Nigel Rafferty Groundcare is a family business established in 2000 that specialises in all types of garden, estate and turf maintenance machinery. Based in Redruth Cornwall, two years ago they moved the business to new purpose built premises with the intention of increasing equipment sales to be able to maximise the service offered to their customers.
In November 2015, just under a year ago, Nigel Rafferty Groundcare joined the EGO revolution and starting stocking the EGO Power+ range. The decision to sell EGO came after Nigel had been to one of Henton & Chattell’s demonstration days and returned back to the rest of the team enthused about EGO, and the benefits of lithium-ion, reporting that he was amazed at the power and efficiency of the equipment.
The decision instantly proved to be the right one and the team were soon as equally enthusiastic as Nigel was, as Julie Rafferty (who is a partner in the business), explains: “We were very impressed! We purchased a complete set of the EGO equipment which we had used in demonstrations for our customers. We are fortunate enough to have a ‘back garden’ at our premises and customers are encouraged to try before they buy, and the EGO products are regularly in use out there.”
It isn’t just Nigel and Julie who are big EGO fans, their customers, old and new, have been converted too! “We have received extremely positive feedback from customers. The product is popular with retired customers as it is so easy and light to use and has enabled them to enjoy gardening again. We have also sold to Holiday Parks because the equipment is so quiet and have had very encouraging comments back”, continued Julie.
The self-propelled mower has been the most popular product and, as EGO has found with many dealers, they regularly see customers returning to buy more products having invested in the battery and charger.
The popularity of EGO has told the Nigel Rafferty team that battery powered equipment really is the next big thing. As Julie says: “Battery powered equipment is the future for garden machinery – it is safe to use, cheap to run, quiet, clean and efficient. Our stocking for 2017 will include a much larger volume of EGO equipment. We look forward to EGO’s further development of equipment built for the commercial environment.”
